The Hungarian Embassy Table Tennis Cup is traditionally linked to the National Holiday of 23 October each year. This year’s event was held on October 21 at the Sports Hall in Abuja National Olympic Stadium.
In six categories, seventy-four players started the day in total. Among the twenty-seven amateur players, there were members of other missions (Malaysia, USA, Pakistan, Japan, etc.) and Ambassadors were also at the table.
At the beginning the Hungarian ambassador gave a short greeting speech, followed by the Chairman of the Table Tennis Association of Nigeria, Mr. Ishaku Tikon, who underlined the exemplary cooperation between Hungary and Nigeria.
The finals were broadcasted by the local NTA TV station. The prize-giving ceremony of the competition - traditionally - was held at the Reception of the National Day on 23 October in the presence of the Nigerian press.
