Between 25-29 September 2019, the newly appointed agricultural minister of Nigeria, Mohammed Sabo Nanono travelled to Hungary to visit the Hungarian Agricultural and Food Expo (OMÉK). On the sideline of the main agricultural event of Hungary, he met the Hungarian agricultural minister, Dr. István Nagy to discuss the details of the Nigerian-Hungarian agric cooperation. They both agreed that knowhow and technology transfer must be the focus of this cooperation. They talked about the seed experiments in Nigeria on Hungarian varieties, the NAPRI-Bábolna TETRA and crossbreeding of the White Fulani and the Hungarian grey cattle, the fruit processing and grain storage technology as well as about implementation of Hungarian agric innovations to combat the climate change and the importance of the Hungarian scholarship programmes for Nigerians.
