The 11th International Arts and Craft Expo took place between 19 and 24 November 2018 in Abuja. The Embassy of Hungary participated in this program for the first time, and as the only member of the European Union. According to the estimation of the organizers, nearly half a million visitors attended the event.
The Embassy of Hungary hosted two new high-profile sports events between November 6 and 10, 2018 at the National Olympic Stadium; the DreamLand – Embassy of Hungary Cup and the Teqball show and mini tournament.
The Hungarian Embassy Table Tennis Cup is traditionally linked to the National Holiday of 23 October each year. This year’s event was held on October 21 at the Sports Hall in Abuja National Olympic Stadium.
Talamba, the very talented Hungarian music group, already performed in Spain, Belgium, France, Russia, but it was the first time that a Hungarian percussion group embraced the audience in Africa. The creativity for which the band is renowned energized the spectators in the hall of the American International School of Abuja in September of 2018.
On the 14th of November 2018, at his request, H.E. Olusade Adesola Permanent Secretary (Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development) paid a courtesy visit at the premises of the Embassy of Hungary in Abuja.
On October 11, 2018, the Ambassador of Nigeria in Budapest H.E. dr. Eniola Ajayi paid a courtesy visit at premises of the Embassy of Hungary in Abuja.
On October 18, 2018, the Ambassador of Poland in Abuja H.E. Joanna Tarnawska paid a courtesy visit at premises of the Embassy of Hungary in Abuja.
The Embassy of Hungary in Abuja has been actively looking for opportunities in the form of sports and cultural events to further strengthen the bridge between Nigeria and Hungary, while appealing to a wide local audience.
