ITU (International Telecommunication Union), the specialized agency of the United Nations held its annual conference ‘ITU Telecom World 2019’ in Budapest, Hungary on the 9-12. September 2019. ITU Telecom World is an annual event, a leading international platform for influential figures from government, industry and tech SMEs to connect, exhibit and explore common challenges, share ideas and build partnerships.
The focus of the conference was on digital innovations that make the operation of the SMEs easier as well as on Industry 4.0 and on 5G.
The imposing and large Nigerian delegation led by the newly appointed Minister of Communications, Sheikh Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami was representing the Nigerian information and communication technology industry. The officials of the Nigerian Communications Commission (the main regulatory authority) as well as of Nigerian Information Technology Development Agency and of the Nigerian Communications Satellite were members of the delegation.
