The Dreamland Football Academy - Embassy of Hungary CUP U-18 Talent Scouting Football Tournament was held in Abia State from 22 to 28 March 2024. The event was supported by both the Abia State Government and the Embassy of Hungary. Six Hungarian scouts representing clubs from the First Division of Hungary’s National League were present in the tournament, which lasted for almost a week. After the final, the scouts selected six young talents for a trial in Hungary, after which the best players may be offered a contract. The Governor of Abia State received the Hungarian delegation at his office during the tournament. The parties agreed that Hungarian experts would draw up detailed plans for the establishment of a talent academy to be built in Abia State, where gifted Nigerian footballers could be trained from a very young age, using Hungarian expertise.
